Although people are attending fewer conferences than they used to, it is still a big part of the lives of many professionals. Lanyrd is a new startup entering the conference market by closely integrating with Twitter to help you find conferences near you and then stay connected to some of the attendees of the conference.

Interesting idea. And useful. Now when I have down time or want to escape for a few minutes, I search for professional development webinars to attend or follow the tweet stream. There’s always something to learn in an area adjacent to my space. Sounds like Lanyard can help me find those conference/webinars easily to maximize my escape velocity.
