SlideRocket – Build, Host & Empower Your Presentations
PowerPoint has gotten to a point where just the mention of its name causes everyone in a meeting room to glance at each other and shudder. We have all sat through one-too-many boring PowerPoint presentations where the presenter used the default template and then went on to read it verbatim.
SlideRocket is aiming to change the concept of presentations. This web application allows you to create your presentations separate of PowerPoint, manage them collaboratively, and accurately measure the results. They want you to go beyond the standard presentation and dynamically add in data from other web apps on the fly. They also help you make your presentation better by giving you access to a deep library of stock photos, illustrations, charts, graphs, etc. SlideRocket can even marry you with a graphic designer or copywriter that you can work collaboratively with on the fly.
A free plan on SlideRocket lets you try out the product, but you will have to upgrade to the $12 month/$120 year plan to be able to download or present offline. To add collaboration to the plan runs $24 per user/per month which could get pricey for a small business with 5-20 people who need to use it.
SlideRocket takes presentations seriously and even runs a webinar series on tips to build great presentations.
Earlier this month SlideRocket was added into the Google Apps marketplace giving it a boost of credibility and ease of use between the two platforms.
3 Reasons You Might Need SlideRocket:
- You have trouble managing a set of up-to-date slides amongst team members and would love a platform to enable that.
- You currently post your presentations on your web site and want the ability to track who is visiting what pages, how long they are viewing them, etc.
- You want to be able to start a presentation and then have a freelancer cheaply polish it off for a minimal fee.
3 Reasons You Wouldn’t Need SlideRocket:
- You need to collaborate as a team on these presentations but can’t afford the $24 per user fee per month.
- You never post or leave behind your presentations and therefore would not use the built-in analytic tools.
- Most of your presentations are given offline and the extra steps to create the presentation online and export it offline would not be convenient.
