Plan Cruncher is advertised as a service for start-ups, but it seems like a good exercise for any business to go through. The thought behind Plan Cruncher is that they you answer a few questions about your business, select appropriate icons to match your business philosophies, and then sit back and watch it generate a one-page, one-sided business plan.

The implications for this in the start-up community are obvious – shorter business plan, better chance of it getting read. But even if you aren’t seeking investor money, it is still a good idea to have a quick business plan to occasionally share. It’s also a good exercise to go through if only to refocus yourself or your team.

The first step is to identify your idea, followed by discussing your team and product. Then Plan Cruncher asks you about your revenue plans and how you are currently funded.  Finally it asks you about your partnership interests before you generate your final plan, which gets emailed in PDF format to you.

The site is built by a Venture Capital group and you have the option of sending them the plan at the end of the process. This is not required to complete the plan.

3 Reasons You Should Check Out Plan Cruncher:

  • You have a business plan that is currently more than 10 pages and want to find a way to get it into more hands.
  • You don’t have a business plan for your company of any size and would love to start one.
  • You are seeking investors of all sizes for your business.

3 Reasons You Don’t Need Plan Cruncher:

  • You already have a short summary of your business that is 1-2 pages.
  • You are a sole-proprietorship with no intent of growing beyond yourself and feel that your business is already focused.
  • You already have investors in place and your companies tactics and plans are well documented.
